We are a small secondary education learning community on two sites in Bristol, one in Fishponds and the other in Brentry. Pupils who are referred to our Academy often tell us that much of their experience of school and learning has left them feeling disillusioned and negative about education. This feeling does not last long.
We strive to ensure that the personalised learning journey of all our young people provides academic success and the confidence and skills to break thorough personal barriers. This means our pupils develop a positive attitude to learning which enables them to achieve and grow and succeed.
Supported by a dedicated, skilful and committed staff team our young people successfully move on from St Matthias Academy back into mainstream education, to specialist education or to college. We help and guide our pupils to take the next steps that are right for them.
St Matthias Academy is following government guidance and ensuring quality education is offered to all pupils, whether they are learning on site or at home. Our school has measures in place to keep it covid-secure and safe for all. Staff are in daily contact with pupils who are learning at home and are conducting well-being visits every week. We are working hard to support our pupils and families at this difficult time. Until lockdown is lifted, we hope that our school community stays safe and we look forward to seeing all pupils return soon.
Message from the NHS: There are concerns that parents/carers and families are not seeking timely medical assistance when their child is ill or may be showing signs of Covid19. This has led to children and young people becoming seriously ill upon presentation and has negatively impacted on their recovery. The NHS has created a visual guide for parents to know what action to take if their children have symptoms - Please see the document called, NHS Parent Guide Covid19, in the download section below.
