First of all, we hope that you are keeping well during this difficult period. You will have no doubt heard in the press that schools are being asked to close from Friday 20 March 2020 as part of the Governments strategy to minimise the spread of Coronavirus.
As a specialist provider for vulnerable young people and those with Education Health Care Plans, Learn@ MAT St Matthias Academy are aware of our enhanced responsibilities towards your child. In this regard we have set up comprehensive individual learning programmes for each child as part of a distance learning programme and a written work pack for those without email/internet access.
We will be in regular contact with you to ensure your child is safe and well and respond to any questions or issues you may have, particularly in regard to their learning. Whilst the Government have asked that we try to keep all our schools open at this time, due to the numbers of our own staff who are either unwell or have their own childcare difficulties it is impossible for us to maintain the running of all our four Academies. We are therefore centralising our resources at the Learn@ Central ALP. Meriton Street, St Philips, Bristol, BS2 0SZ, from Monday 23 March until further notice. This base will remain open to provide education between 9.30am to 2pm, although we will not be able to provide any home school transport in the current situation.
We have also made arrangements for the parent/carer of each child entitled to free school meals to receive a £15 food voucher each week throughout this challenging period. If your child is not eligible for free school meals but you are facing additional hardship in this period please contact your child’s tutor and we will do our best to support you.
School will contact you every morning by text to check in with you and you can contact tutors via email for additional support. Here is a list of email addresses so that you can stay in contact with them.

We are a small secondary education learning community based near the Central Area of the city. We know that for many of our young people and their families when they first come to us that many of their educational and learning experiences have left them feeling disillusioned and negative about education. This feeling does not last long.
We strive to ensure that the personalised learning journey of all our young people provides academic success and the confidence and skills to break thorough personal barriers to develop a positive attitude to learning that enables each of our young people to achieve and grow.
Supported by a dedicated, skilful and committed staff team our young people successfully move on from St Matthias Academy.
